Keeping the Light: Virtual Roundtable

In July, Healthy Air Alliance was proud to bring together civil rights and faith leaders from Southern California and across the state to discuss with policy leaders the impacts of environmental and health injustices as communities of color continue to be disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The widely-attended roundtable, led by Dr. Pastor William D. Smart Jr., president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference of Southern California and advisory board member of the Healthy Air Alliance, brought together more than a dozen faith and civil rights leaders, along with health and policy experts from the governor’s office, the American Cancer Society of Southern California, the South Coast Air Quality Management District, and key state legislative offices.

Healthy Air Alliance is eager to continue the conversation and work together with community and policy leaders to identify immediate solutions to improve air quality and health outcomes for minority and underserved communities.

The full virtual discussion, held on July 23, can be viewed below.
